DVD 1 contains:
1) General footage of Life in Cuba This footage is useful to "set the scene" for your documentaries, find connecting or opening/closing shots, or if you want to do a smaller project (Havana, cars, transport, etc.).
DVD 2 contains:
1) Footage specific to this module: the medical system, music, hitchiking, housing, and other issues that illustrate the pros and cons of a communist society. This footage reflects all of the themes in the teaching unit and provides in-depth video that will allow your students to create rich and nuanced projects
2) A Teaching Unit supporting social science standards complete with class activities, grading rubrics, and teacher support materials; full translations of footage interviews; flowcharts, and detailed background information on the footage. Teacher support materials include instructional strategies which may be used in sequence to progress through the unit or used in a "cafeteria" manner. Also included are four PowerPoint presentations, lecture materials, issues summary, graphic organizers, homework assignments, a video on how to use the footage, and student briefing materials. The teaching unit is presented to you in two formats. You can either view it as a self-contained website (on the disc) that allows you to click through all the links and download each page as a Word, PowerPoint, or graphic document as you get to it, or you can view it as a group of documents inside labeled folders. Both formats contain the same information, though the website is easier to navigate and the folders are easier to access if you know what you are looking for.

GETTING STARTED: Pop each DVD into your computer's CD/DVD drive. Drag the contents of the DVD onto your desktop and wait while it copies. After this you can put aside the DVD and access all of the materials directly from your desktop. Your computer will work much faster if it is reading off of its internal drive, rather than from the DVD.
